I am … what? Fill in the blank.
At the beginning of the year it’s not unusual to set goals, create new years resolutions or intentions and define what you want for the coming year. In all of these cases, it often feels like something outside of our self. Something that needs to be achieved.
The thoughts we think and the words we speak are affirmations. They have a way of defining us. Bringing awareness to what we are saying (and thinking) helps shift and provide clarity around what we really want.
The statement “I AM” brings that which you want into the present moment. It’s as if you already have it. It changes your energy. It changes the way you feel. Let’s try it. Read the following statements and see which one feels better:
- I wish I didn’t smoke (insert your own specific example)
- I want to quit smoking
- my goal is to quit smoking
- my intention is to quit smoking
- I am a non smoker …. let’s take it one step farther and take out the word smoker.
- I am healthy
Does the last statement feel the best to you? Not always right? If you are not feeling very healthy, when you read “I am healthy” it might not feel good because you don’t believe it. So you may want to move back to I am a non smoker or my intention is to quit smoking. No wrong answer here. It’s about what feels right to you. It’s about vibrating an energy that attracts more of what you want into your life.
Today, I invite you to join me in affirming “I am …” and take some time to fill in the blanks with exactly what you would like to be. Sometimes we have to fake it till we make it!
Have a wonderful day!
