“All the advice you ever gave your partner is for you to hear” is another great quote by the lovely Byron Katie. Feel free to replace ‘partner’ with whoever it is you find yourself advising.
Try it…think of someone who you’re not happy with right now. What advice would you give them? Do they need to calm down, be nicer, make a decision? Now ask yourself…where do I need to calm down or be nicer, or make a decision? Really sit with that.
There is a great worksheet available to help flush out this concept. If you haven’t done so already, feel free to download it here: Judge Your Neighbour worksheet and fill it out based on the situation you’re thinking about. I’ve had so many aha moments from filling these out.
I invite you to join me and affirm “my partner is my mirror and I love what I see” and try it. Notice what you see, and see if you can love all of ‘me’!
Have a reflective day!
